Acupuncture in Stirling
Ruth McWilliam Acupuncture has now extended service provision to the Callander area. It is a mobile acupuncture service where treatment is provided by a registered nurse in your own home. The service covers the Forth Valley Healthboard area and some surrounding areas.
Ruth is a member of the British Medical Acupuncture Society and is regulated by the Nursing and Midwifery Council, and Healthcare Improvement Scotland. Healthcare Improvement Scotland ensures that private healthcare services meet required standards for safety and quality through licensing and inspection. Currently, I am the only registered nurse in the Callander area that has a licence from Healthcare Improvement Scotland to practice acupuncture.
Acupuncture treatments I offer include Auriculotherapy, Medical Acupuncture, and Dry Needling.

Further Information
The British Medical Acupuncture Society promotes the use of acupuncture in the management of conditions where there is a good evidence-base that shows acupuncture can help alleviate symptoms. It has good information for patients on their website here.
The British Acupuncture Council has produced a series of fact sheets which demonstrates the range of conditions that acupuncture may be useful in helping to treat. These may not all be applicable to Medical Acupuncture, but it gives an idea of the breadth of issues which can be treated. These can be found here.
About Ruth
I spent nearly 15 years working in the field of environmental biology in various roles, before deciding on a career change and becoming a nurse.
I first came across acupuncture when I had treatment for a painful condition I had been diagnosed with and was really impressed with the results it gave. I was really interested in how acupuncture worked so I decided to find out more and following my research I made the decision to train to become an acupuncturist myself, and now specialise in treating pain.
I completed training given by the British Medical Acupuncture Society, who provide courses for nurses and other registered healthcare professionals, and I am now a certified Western Medical Acupuncture practitioner.
I ran an acupuncture clinic in Yorkshire for 2 years where I was able to treat clients with a wide range of conditions. It was a great experience but the time came to relocate back home to Scotland. I am now offering a mobile treatment service, where you will be treated at home, in the Callander and Forth Valley area. As Callander is more than a half hour drive from my base, treatment will incur a £5 surcharge. Although this may seem a lot at least you will be saving your own time and travel expenses/parking, by not having to travel to see a clinic-based practitioner in a nearby town for example.
